Why couldn't all my words be placed?

Crossword placement requires words to share letters. Words with no shared letters with placed words are skipped. Try adding more variety or different lengths.

How are clue numbers assigned?

Numbers are assigned left-to-right, top-to-bottom on the cells where each word starts — the same convention as printed crosswords.

Can I print the puzzle?

Yes. Click Print for a sheet with the numbered grid and across/down clue lists.

Where is the answer key?

The preview shows the filled grid. For a blank student version vs an answer key version, generate twice with the same words.
